Boys’ lacrosse preview: Episcopal Academy hosts Haverford School tonight in Inter-Ac League showdown (check out live blog)

Episcopal Academy hosts Haverford School tonight (7:00) in an Inter-Ac league boys’ lacrosse showdown that showcases two of the top teams in the country gunning for a leg up on first place.

EA is 11-1 and 3-0 in the Inter-Ac. The Churchmen are ranked No. 3 in the PA Media Rankings and by Phillylacrosse.com. Nationally, the Churchmen are ranked No. 17 by Under Armour/Inside Lacrosse, No. 18 by MaxPreps.com and and No. 20 by ESPNHS.

Haverford School is also 11-1 and 3-0 and is ranked No. 2 in the PA Media Rankings, but No. 1 by Phillylacrosse.com. The Fords are ranked No. 3 by ESPNHS and MaxPreps.com as well as No. 5 by UA/IL.

Episcopal, behind the two-headed goalie rotation of Henry Coote and Tyler Morrell, has not allowed more than seven goals in any game this year. The Fords have yielded more than seven goals only once (nine vs. Gilman in an 11-9 win) and have been getting standout goaltending from Jake Landman.

Episcopal’s attack has been balanced, led by Connor Haab, Tyler Odell, Ian Strain, Morgan Westby, Trupert Ortlieb and Curtis Zappala.

Haverford School’s offense has featured Henry Blynn, Zach Rego, Gavin McBride, Will McNamara and Sam Rohr.

The game also will showcase a strong matchup at the face-off X between EA’s Jon Garino and Haverford’s Will Gural.
