Central Bucks East senior goalie Harrison Holak has committed to play Division III lacrosse at Catholic University.
Harrison Holak log:
High School: Central Bucks East
Graduation Year: 2012
College Choice: Catholic University
Club Affiliation: Twist Black
Major lacrosse honors: “Third team all-conference as Sophomore, First team all-league as Junior, EPSLA Showcase Public Juniors, Senior Captain.
Academic honors: Honors each year throughout high school, Extra man opportunity (community service)
What will you major in/study? Secondary Education
Why did you choose Catholic? “It wasn’t easy for me to pick a school; first I had to decide at what level I wanted to play, either D1 or D3. I think I went on about 4 or 5 visits to D1 schools and I decided it just wasn’t going to be the right fit for me. Then after about 5 or 6 visits to D3 schools, I finally visited Catholic.
“I chose Catholic for many reasons. The first was their academic reputation for excellence; I have heard many great things about the professors there as well as all of the staff. Secondly was for the lacrosse team and how nice everybody was. Coach (Brooks) Singer and all of the players seem like great guys and I’m very excited to be with them next year. The last factor was the city of D.C. I love it down there and I couldn’t be happier to have the chance to live there.”
What is your HS team’s outlook for the rest of the season? “Right now we are 8-0 and just came off of a big win against St. Joes Metuchen. We are a really tight and talented unit and I think if we keep our heads on straight and play disciplined lacrosse we can make a long run this year just as we did last.”
Other schools considered: I considered playing for St. Josephs, Sienna, Roanoke, Dickinson and Stevenson.
Additional comments: “I want to thank my youth lacrosse coaches Mike Lavin, Brian Vetter, and Steve Hogan. My club coaches Jack Devlin, Joe Serio, and Greg Flaggo. My high school coaches Rich Garcia, Bruce Garcia, Paul McGovern, and Tim West. Finally, my parents who have done everything to give me the opportunity to play in college and to have many choices. I would be nowhere without them.”
