The Cabrini College men’s lacrosse team has won eight straight games and has moved up to No. 6 in the USILA rankings in Division III with a 9-2 record.
The Cavaliers, led by coach Steve Colfer, are 4-0 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference and have won 107 straight league games after Wednesday’s 19-5 victory over Centenary.
Junior attackman Bobby Thorp leads the team this year with 30 goals and 21 assists and was named the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Mid-Atlantic Region Offensive Player of the Week last week. Senior Brian Hill (Ridley) has 28 goals and 13 assists and junior Matt Biegel (West Chester East) has 16 goals, while freshman Damian Sobieski (Avon Grove) has 14 goals and freshman Mike Leyden (Haverford High) has 12.
Junior Andrew Kvech, Senior John McSorley (Ridley) and junior Tyler Grau have led the defense and freshman Anthony DiNenno (Avon Grove) has been a standout at the face-off X by winning 68.4 percent of his draws (106 of 155).
Junior Erick Zarzecki has yielded just 45 goals and made 82 saves.
Cabrini is a true Philly squad; 26 of the players on the roster are from the Philly or South Jersey regions.
The Cavs’ final home game is April 14 vs. Immaculata.
