Archbishop Carroll’s girls’ lacrosse team made a dramatic comeback, but fell just short of rallying against nationally-ranked Milton (Ga.) Monday in the Patriots’ finale at the AmLax Challenge in St. Petersburg, Fla.
The Patriots (1-3), who had lost to national power Vero Beach, 11-8, several days ago, came back from a 13-5 halftime deficit with an incredible seven unanswered goals in 4:43 to draw within 13-12 early in the second half.
Rcahel Flynn (four goals, one assist) then tied the game, but the Eagles (9-1) then scored three in a row before Carroll roared back again with three of its own to forge a 16-16 tie. Milton then scored three of the next four goals to ice it.
Natalie Schmitt led the Pats with five goals. Carroll plays today at home against Catholic League rival Archbishop Wood.
