Recent Great Valley graduate Caroline Dodds (defender) will play Division I lacrosse at Drexel University.
Dodds was a Second Team Ches-Mont League pick in 2011 when she helped the Patriots reach the semifinals of the District 1 and Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association tournaments.
Dodds plans to study Education and become an English teacher.
“I chose Drexel because Drexel was the school I always wanted to go to,” she said. “The girls were really nice and getting to play lacrosse there is icing on the cake.
“I love the city setting and with center City so close it’s hard to get bored.”
Dodds said the Patriots – who went 21-4 overall and placed second in the Ches-Mont League – were successful due to strong camaraderie. Great Valley won both of its state playoff games in overtime, and then suffered a heartbreaking 9-8 loss to Downingtown East in the state semis.
“Looking back on the season we were so tight knit and one big family,” she said. “That’s what made it so hard to lose that last game. We were so close to making our goal, but clearly we made it as far as we possibly could.
“Winning the overtime games was awesome. It gave us a lot of fuel.”
