The Philadelphia Wings of the National Lacrosse League (NLL) announced that they have signed forward Mike Hominuck to a two-year contract.
Hominuck was originally drafted by the Wings in 2001, but never actually played for the team because he was attending Brock University in Ontario, Canada, where he contributed to four national championship teams. Since graduating from Brock, Hominuck has played seven seasons in the NLL, most recently for the Toronto Rock during the 2010 NLL season.
“I am very excited to be back in a Wings uniform where I was drafted,” Hominuck said. “It feels like my career has come full circle and I have matured 100 percent as a player. I like the direction in which the Wings are going, from the coaching staff all the way down. It gives me a chance to play with a great group of guys who are world-class athletes.”
“I know Mike personally as we both played lacrosse in St. Catharines. He is a classy player and fits in well on our left offensive side and will certainly add some goals and assist to our lineup,” said Wings Head Coach and General Manager Johnny Mouradian. “He is having an outstanding summer with the Brampton Excelsiors and will be playing in the Mann Cup this week.”
In his last NLL season, Hominuck scored 11 goals and added nine assists and 32 loose balls for the Rock, playing in 11 games.
