Wings edge Buffalo, 10-9, on late goal by Westervelt

Drew Westervelt scored the game-winner with 1:18 to play in the game as the Philadelphia Wings scored a key 10-9 victory over the host Buffalo Bandits tonight in National Lacrosse League action.

The Wings improved to 4-4 with the win and kept their hopes of a playoff berth within reach in the rugged East Division at the season’s midway point.

Athan Iannucci led the Wings with three goals and three assists and defenseman Dan Hardy contributed three goals and two assists. But again, the tea’s MVP was All-Star goalie Brandon Miller, who posted 43 saves. The Wings were outshot, 52-35.

Also for Philadelphia, Westervelt added four assists to go with his game-winner and Alex Turner had a goal and an assist.
