Weekly women’s awards: Lafayette’s White (Strath Haven), Drexel’s Wood (Conestoga)

Lafayette freshman Ana White (Strath Haven) was named the Patriot League Midfielder of the Week after leading the Leopards with 12 draw controls and five caused turnovers last week.

The Biology major, opened the week at Monmouth with five ground balls in a 14-5 loss. She also won nine draw controls and had four caused turnovers in the road game.

In the 11-8 win over Davidson on Saturday afternoon, White had a pair of goals, an assist and won three draw controls.

White is second on the Leopards in scoring with seven goals and leads the team with 13 ground balls, 20 draw controls and 11 caused turnovers.

A week earlier, White was named Patriot League Rookie of the Week after leading the team with five goals, four in the season opener.

Drexel’s Wood (Conestoga) named CAA Co-Player of Week

Drexel’s Charlotte Wood (Conestoga) has been named Colonial Athletic Association women’s lacrosse Co-Player of the Week for her performance during the week ending on March 5. This is the second time this season that Wood has been recognized by the league as a player of the week.

Wood tied her career-high with six goals in Drexel’s 19-3 triumph over Bcuknell in the team’s home opener at Vidas Field on Sunday. The junior standout now has 18 goals and two assists on the season. She currently has 77 goals and nine assists in her career at Drexel.
