Drexel’s Charlotte Wood (Conestoga) has been named this week’s Colonial Athletic Association women’s lacrosse Co-Player of the Week, while teammate Amanda Norcini (Conestoga) earned CAA’s Rookie of the Week honors. Wood tied a career-high with six goals in a single game as the Dragons defeated George Washington, 14-9, in the team’s home opener.
Freshmen Norcini had a stunning start for the Dragons. In her first colligate competition, Norcini knocked in her first goal and put the Dragons up 1-0 within the first five minutes of the game against the Colonials. The Wayne, Pa. native also tallied three groundballs and three caused turnovers for Drexel.
Villanova’s Donodeo is BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week
Villanova junior Justine Donodeo earned BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week honors.
Donodeo had seven points, with four goals and three assists in a 1-0 week. In a 16-8 win over Bryant, the junior helped the team get off to an undefeated start as she scored four goals in the first half. Donodeo is the first Villanova player to earn BIG EAST women’s lacrosse Player of the Week honors. The Wildcats are in their second year of BIG EAST competition.
Next up for the Wildcats (1-0) is a Saturday afternoon matchup with Boston College at Villanova Stadium.
