No. 7 Villanova (7-1, 0-0 BIG EAST) will host top-ranked Syracuse (6-0, 1-0 BIG EAST) Saturday at 7 p.m. in Villanova Stadium in a much-anticipated men’s lacrosse game.
The weekend contest will begin BIG EAST play for the Wildcats and will also mark the first time Syracuse has played on the Main Line campus since the 1991 season.
Villanova is riding a six-game win streak, including victories over three top-20 opponents in Drexel, Penn and Princeton. VU’s 7-1 record is the best start since the 2004 season, matching that team’s 7-1 record through eight games.
The current No. 7 ranking in the USILA Coaches poll is the highest in program history.
Saturday’s contest will also feature the highly anticipated matchup of the two best long-stick midfielders in nation as Brian Karalunas (this week’s Phillylacrosse.com Scholar-Athlete of the Week) and Joel White set the stage for this critical conference showdown.
STX will be on hand with giveaways and equipment demonstrations and Villanova will host a free Kidzone (weather permitting) from 5:30-7pm in the rear Pavilion parking lot filled with inflatables and activities for both children and adults.
Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for youth (12 and under). The Villanova Athletic Department recommends purchasing tickets in advance for the game to avoid lines on Saturday as more than 3,000 fans are expected.
