Two St. Joseph’s Prep graduates – defenseman Ted Hospodar and midfielder Brian Brinkmann – have transferred to St. Joseph’s University and are eligible to play this season.
Hospodar, a sophomore defenseman, has transferred to St. Joe’s from Army. Brinkmann, a sophomore midfielder, has transferred from Navy.
Hospodar was a reserve at Army last year after spending one season at Army Prep. Hospodar was a Second Team All-Catholic League Southern Division defenseman in 2008, when the Prep finished 22-5 and gave eventual state champion La Salle a major scare in the Catholic League title game (6-5 loss).
Brinkmann played two games last year for Navy. Brinkmann spent the 2007-08 academic year at Naval Academy Prep and was a reserve for Navy in 2009.
Brinkmann was a three-sport athlete who lettered three times in football and lacrosse, while also playing on the basketball team. He was a two-time All-Catholic League selection as a midfielder in lacrosse and served as captain as a senior. In football, he was an All-State pick as a senior.
Hospodar and Brinkmann become the fourth and fifth St. Joe’s Prep grads on the St. Joe’s University roster. The others are junior midfielder Bobby Hurley, sophomore defenseman Bill Bonner, and sophomore midfielder Ian Correia (transfer from Bryant).
