Trailing by four after the first period, Ursinus erupted for seven goals in the second period in an 11-9 win over Swarthmore in the men’s lacrosse Centennial Conference opener for Ursinus.
The Bears (5-1, 1-0 Centennial) trailed 7-3 with 13:08 left the first half and proceeded to score eight straight goals to take a 11-7 lead with 10:30 left in the game.
For Ursinus, Jeff Ocampo had four goals, with Brian Weil adding in two. Ocampo also added in two assists in the win. Ursinus won the game, despite being outshot by the Garnet (1-5, 0-1 Centennial) 46-30.
Shawn Caven (Pennsbury) and Josh Baker each had five groundballs, with Caven going 11-for-16 on faceoffs.
Baker had 14 saves in the win for Ursinus.
Jonathan Molloy, Owen Masters and Max Hubbard 2 each scored two goals for the Garnet.
Cabrini 11, FDU-Florham 6
Dan Terenick (Ridley) had two goals and two assists and Bobby Thorp scored twice while Erick Zarzecki made 11 saves for the winning Cavaliers (3-3).
Dino Vitale (Hatboro-Horsham) had 14 saves for FDU-Florham.
Dickinson 9, Widener 8
Johnny Casey (Abington) had two goals and an assist as the Pride (2-2) nearly pulled off an upset vs No. 6 Dickinson (6-1).
Goucher 13, Eastern 9
Rory Averett (Council Rock North) had three goals and an assist and Matt Lynch (La Salle) had two goals, one assist, five groiundballs and two caused turnovers to pace Goucher (3-4).
David Darling led the Eagles (1-3) with five goals.
