Registration remains open for the Philly boys’ and girls’ Under Armour Underclassmen teams.

The Philly boys’ tryouts are being held June 13-14 at Radnor High (5-8 p.m.); the girls also will have tryouts at Radnor (5-8 p.m.) on June 15-16. The Games are being held July 1-3 at Towson University’s Johnny Unitas Stadium.

All boys and girls in the graduating classes of 2012, 2013, and 2014 are eligible to tryout and receive the opportunity to be one of the 24 players selected by a panel of coaching experts to represent their region. All participants will receive an Under Armour event shirt, an event reversible, a subscription to Inside Lacrosse magazine, as well as an in-depth biography page in the college coaches’ recruiting booklet. College coaches will attend tryouts and the tournament.

The Philly boys’ coach is Mike Friel, former head coach at Springfield-Delco and last year’s coach of the Philly team. The girls’ coach, Downingtown East mentor Caitlin Barbakoff, also is returning.

The Under Armour tournament has expanded this year to include two more teams – from the West and South – and now has 10 teams in all for boys and girls.

This year’s 10 regions will include Philadelphia (Pennsylvania and Delaware), Baltimore, Long Island, Midwest, New England, New Jersey (N.J. and Delaware), Upstate NY, South, Washington, D.C. and West.

The Under Armour Underclassmen Tournament is part of the Under Armour All-America games that feature 44 of the best 2011 senior class boys and girls from around the country, squaring off against each other in a North vs. South format. Those teams will be announced shortly.
