Wyoming Seminary senior goalie Ray Zimlin has committed to play Division III lacrosse at Manhattanville.
Zimlin was considered for the Wendy’s High School Heisman and was invited to attend the National Youth Leadership Summit on the forum of Law and Criminal Justice. He was nominated for the National Honor Society of High School Scholars in his sophomore year.
An active community service contributor, Zimlin coached lacrosse for the Boys Club of New York, introducing inner-city kids to lacrosse.
Zimlin plans to pursue the ROTC program through SUNY Purchase.
“I chose Manhattanville because of the immediate sense of community that I felt just stepping on campus and when interacting with the coaching staff and players,” he said. “Coach (Tom) Albano, and the rest of the coaching staff made me feel extremely comfortable with the school, and the players made me feel like I was a part of the team.
“I considered other DIII and DI schools but I truly feel that Manhattanville is the college for me.”
Zimlin is confident that Seminary will be improved in 2011.
“The team shows a lot of potential, and we’ve been working hard every day of practice so far this season,” he said. “We’ve faced some stiff competition so far this season, and we’ll be playing some pretty tough teams this year, but I think we’ll be very successful.”
