Play began today in the 2nd annual Summer Slam as 196 boys’ club and youth teams converged on Episcopal Academy and Westtown School.
The event features nearly 4,000 lacrosse players and is expected to draw well over 15,000 lacrosse fans over a two-day period.
The high school AA and A games as well as some U15 games are being played on seven fields at Episcopal. Fifty college coaches registered to watch the talent as nearly all the top Philly club teams fielded squads: Duke’s L.C., Mesa Fresh, LB3, Twist, HEADstrong and Black Bear were joined by such Mid-Atlantic powers as the Long Island Express and Tri-State.
Other Philly club teams playing in the high school divisions were NXT, 252 Lacrosse, Bucks Select and Freedom Lacrosse, as well as Penn East (Lehigh Valley) and team 302 (Wilmington).
At Westtown, 116 teams in the U11, U13 and U15 divisions as well as the high school B class began play today. Championship games in all divisions are being held Sunday.
