It was supposed to be a day where No. 1 Archbishop Carroll hosted No. 2 Radnor in a neighborhood rivalry that always takes on extra meaning. The game, though, was postponed this morning due to a scheduling problem with the umpires and will be made up on May 11.
This week’s poll:
1, Archbishop Carroll (5-1) – The Patriots had three key wins last week, over Catholic League rival Archbishop Wood (12-10) and Virginia schools Episcopal and Collegiate (both 11-5) Saturday at the 20th Annual Sts. Stephen’s and Agnes Spring Fling in Alexandria, Va. Prev: No. 2
2, Radnor (5-0) – The Red Raiders have surprised most by getting off to an impressive start with a whole new cast and a new coach. Prev: No. 3
3, Downingtown East (5-1) – The Cougars earned a key 18-15 win over former No. 1 Episcopal Academy last week and a 9-7 triumph over contender Great Valley. Tuesday they play at Ches-Mont League contender Bishop Shanahan. Prev: No. 7
4, Episcopal Academy (2-1) – EA looks to bounce back from its loss to Downingtown East at Germantown Academy Tuesday in the Inter-Ac League. Prev: No. 1
5, Conestoga (4-0) – The Pioneers host No. 9 North Penn today in a key test before two huge Central League games, Tuesday at Springfield-Delco and Thursday at home against Harriton. Prev: No. 5
6, Harriton (7-0) – The Rams continue to be the talk of the region after impressive wins over Springfield-Delco and West Chester East. Their big game this week is Thursday at Conestoga. Prev: No. 9
7, Notre Dame (4-0) – The Irish, who struggled somewhat in wins over Germantown Friends and Baldwin School last week, face a major test Friday when they host No. 1 Archbishop Carroll. Prev: No. 4
8, Springfield-Delco (4-1) – The Cougars, coming off a big win over Strath Haven, host Conestoga Tuesday in a key Central League game. Prev: No. 6.
9, Great Valley (6-1) – The Patriots look to recover in the Ches-Mont after their loss to Downingtown East when they host Downingtown West Tuesday and Bishop Shanahan Thursday. Prev: No. 8
10. North Penn (7-0) – The Maidens scored a key triumph over Hatboro-Horsham Friday, and now host Conestoga today. Prev: No. 10
