Penn State freshman goalie Kaut (Springfield-Delco) earns CAA Rookie of the Week again

Penn State freshman goalie Austin Kaut (Springfield-Delco) has been named the Colonial Athletic Association Rookie of the Week for the week ending March 6. The award is the second this year for the 2010 Phillylacrosse.com Co-Player of the Year.

Kaut tallied 16 saves in Penn State’s 6-5 triple-overtime loss to No. 12 Ohio State on Saturday. The rookie now has a superb 6.04 goals against average with a .683 save percentage. Kaut has faced 106 shots this year and has played every minute for Penn State through three games.

Penn State is 1-2 on the year, 0-0 in Colonial Athletic Association action. The Nittany Lions will visit Villanova on Tuesday night for a 7 p.m. game, giving Kaut a homecoming. Penn State then hosts Rutgers on Saturday at 3 p.m. at Bigler Field.
