Two Philly boys are the first rising juniors from the region to commit to Division I schools.
St. Joseph’s Prep attackman Anthony Marini and St. Augustine Prep (N.J.) midfielder Michael Sutton, who plays for the Duke’s Lacrosse Club, both announced their commitments today. Marini committed to Notre Dame University and Sutton committed to Penn State University.
Marini, who plays club for Tri-State, helped the Hawks (19-5) win their first Catholic League title in eight years and reach the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association championship game. Marini recently stood out at the Jake Reed Nike Vlue Chip Camp and the EPSLA Showcase.
Sutton, a team captain for the Duke’s L.C., led the Hermits to the finals of the New Jersey Non-Public A championships for the second straight year and had 50 goals this season. St. Augustine went 17-5. Sutton also played for New Jersey’s entry in the Under Armour Underclassmen Games last weekend.
