Men’s recruits: Cavallaro welcomes Beury (U. Dublin), Ross (Conestoga), two from Moorestown (NJ) among class of 12 recruits

Franklin & Marshall men’s lacrosse coach Todd Cavallaro (former Penn assistant) announced 12 new members of the program that make us his Class of 2015.

“We are very excited to welcome these student athletes into our program,” said Cavallaro. “They have been working diligently in the classroom, on the field, and in the community to help build upon our Diplomat lacrosse tradition. With this added depth, we are very excited about this year and the future of F&M lacrosse.”

The Franklin & Marshall College Class of 2015 includes:

Will Beury – Attack, 6’1, 180, Upper Dublin HS
Four-year starter at Upper Dublin … Scored 113 goals and 133 assists in his four-year career… Made All League all four years including First Team All-League as a senior.

Ben Ross – Midfield – 6’4, 185, Berkshire School (MA)/Conestoga High
Two year member of varsity at Conestoga HS … Went to the state championship as a junior and won the championship as a senior (2010). Recorded 20 goals and 7 assists at Berkshire last year as post graduate… New England Prep School All Star selection … Member of squash team at Berkshire and Conestoga … Captain at Conestoga… National Honor Society.

Chad Gamble – Midfield, 6’2, 180, Moorestown HS, NJ
Four-year member of the varsity lacrosse team … Scored 56 goals, 38 assists in his career … Member of 2008 and 2011 state group championship teams … All- Burlington County, All-Skyland Conference and All-State … Won best midfielder award on his team as a junior and a senior … . Captain senior year … Three sport athlete, also played soccer and basketball … Captain of basketball … Four year honor roll. New Jersey Boy’s State member.

Phil Gamble – Midfield, 6’2, 180, Moorestown HS, NJ

Four year member of the varsity lacrosse team … Tallied 55 goals and 46 assists in his career … State group champions in 2008 and 2011… All-Burlington County, All-Skyland Conference and All-State… 2011 Val Curran award for being best team leader, most team spirit and most competitive… Three-sport athlete… Also played soccer and basketball… Captain of basketball… Four year honor roll.

Will Ballantyne – Attack, 5’10, 185, Hopkinton HS, MA
Three-year starter at Hopkinton HS in Mass … Scored 133 goals and 49 assists in his career… Two-time First Team All-Conference… Two-time Offensive Player of the Year for his team, team MVP as a senior… Also played football.

Mike Firestone – Defense – 5’10, 175, South Side, NY
Two- year member of the South Side varsity lacrosse team … All-Conference and captain as a senior … Member of the national honor society.

Zach Johannes – Midfield – 6’2, 200 – Pope John XXIII HS, NJ
Four year member of the varsity lacrosse team… 92 goals and 81 assists in his career… First Team NJ Herald as a junior and senior … . First Team All-League as sophomore, junior and senior … Second Team All-State junior year … First Team All-State senior year … Also played varsity football for two years as a wide receiver and strong safety.

Bryan Kelly – Defense – 5’9, 185 – Cold Spring Harbor, NY
Four year starter at CSH HS… All-Conference senior year … Won Nassau County championship in 2008 and 2011… Honor roll all four years.

Jeffrey Laforge – Goalie – 5’10, 165, Westfield, NJ
Thee year member of the varsity… Started as a junior and senior … Captain as a senior … First Team All-County … First Team All-Fitch Division … Second Team All State … Team MVP senior year … Academic all American.

Tim Mattessich – Goalie – 6’0, 190, Ridgewood, NJ
Two year member of the varsity at Ridgewood HS … Member of the varsity football team … First Team All-League and Second Team All-Suburban in football.

Clark McMahon – Attack – 6’2, 195, Governor’s Academy, NH
Captain of the undefeated Governor’s Academy team in 2011 … All-League as a senior scoring 36 goals and 10 assists … Played in the New England prep All-Start game as a senior … Won two league championships… Two year starting quarterback for the football team … Captain senior year… Honor roll senior year.

Connor Melillo – Midfield – 6’1, 195, Wilson (CT)
Four year member of the varsity lacrosse team at Wilton High School … Captain senior year … Member of the super sophomore and super junior teams in Connecticut … Member of the state championship winning team in 2011 as a senior.
