Unionville senior face-off specialist/midfielder Jack O’Neill has committed to play Division II lacrosse at Wesley College.
O’Neill earned Second Team Ches-Mont League honors this year while helping the Indians advance to the second round of the District 1 tournament.
O’Neill plans to major in sports management. He will join Unionville teammate James Moss (attackman) at Wesley.
“I chose Wesley for a couple reasons,” O’Neill said. “The first reason is because it’s not a huge school. I can focus on my school work and lacrosse more easily.”
O’Neill said Unionville’s season in 2011 was a success. The Indians’ highlight was an 8-7 overtime win over Penncrest in the first round of the District 1 tournament.
“I think we had a good season,” he said. “We started off a little slow and even with an 0-4 start we made it to the playoffs and had a great overtime win over Penncrest – which beat us in the first game of the season.”
