Boca Raton (FL) junior goalie Nick Martin has made a verbal commitment to play Division I lacrosse at the University of Delaware.
Nick Martin log:
High School: Boca Raton High School (Boca Raton, Florida)
Year of graduation: 2013
College choice: University of Delaware
Club affiliation: Team 22 Lacrosse Club
Major lacrosse honors: 2011 All District Team. 2011 All South Florida Team. Maverik Showtime. ESPNHS 2013 Watch List.
Major academic honors: 100% Honor Roll attendance throughout high school.
Intended major: “I am considering multiple majors and leaning towards pre-law or criminal justice. I am also considering business, accounting, or communications.”
Why did you choose Delaware: “Delaware had so much to offer and I felt it was place that I could be happy even without lacrosse. The campus was great, and all the aforementioned majors I’m interested in are offered. Also, the lacrosse program is obviously one held in a high regard and the winning tradition that Coach Shillinglaw and his staff have established.
“There is something that I’m excited to become apart of. Finally, I was extremely impressed by Coach Shillinglaw and his staff and along with the players on the team they made me feel very comfortable and ultimately convinced me it was the right fit for me.”
High school team’s outlook for 2012: “I couldn’t be more excited about this upcoming lacrosse season at Boca High. We return a lot of talent, especially on the defensive end of the field. We finished 18-2 last year and have moved up into a more competitive conference. Nevertheless, we are expecting another great season.”
Additional comments: “I have to thank my parents and family. I would also like to thank my head coach, Matt Paolano, for all his help throughout the years along with the rest of my high school staff (Coach Chris, Clark, and Smith). Also I would like to thank my club coach, Casey Powell, for everything he’s done for me along with the rest of the Saint Andrew’s staff who were great to me this summer (coaches Dawson, Cost, Bellando and Bettinger). Coach Andrew Bolger also deserves a thank you for his help throughout the years. Finally, I’d like to thank Chuck Miller and Carl Epple, my youth coaches for getting me into the game.”
