Drexel exploded for a season-high 18 goals in a convincing 18-5 victory over visiting Lafayette on Tuesday at Vidas Field.
The Dragons won 19 face-offs and controlled possession throughout the game on the way to their fourth straight win. Scott Perri scored five goals and had an assist to lead the Dragons, while Nick Trizano added three goals.
Brendan Glynn (St. Joseph’s Prep) and Kris Franklin each scored twice for the Dragons (5-3). Lafayette, which got two goals from Greg Allis, fell to 2-5.
The Dragons had outstanding performances by their two freshmen face-off men. Devin Thomas won 13 of his 14 attempts, came up with a game-high nine ground balls and scored a goal. Michael Roe was also effective, winning six of 11 draws with six ground balls.
Mark Manos (Salesianum School) made four saves for Drexel before being replaced by A.J. Froehlich with 11 minutes left in the game. Froehlich made three saves in the closing minutes. Ed Stubits turned aside 11 shots for the Leopards.
Catholic 15, Neumann 4
Jimmy Sinnott (La Salle) had three goals to spark Catholic (7-2).
Justin Mailloux led Neumann (1-4) with two goals.
