The Marist College men’s lacrosse held the Edward Coombs Memorial Flag Football Tournament Saturday to raise money for the The Edward Taylor Coombs Foundation.
Coombs, a 2010 Hatboro-Horsham grad, was killed in an August car accident in Horsham Township. He was a popular freshman lacrosse player at Marist last year.

The article had this comment from Eddie’s father, Eric: “The turnout and the student support, it’s just been an amazing experience. Needless to say, we miss Edward very, very much and this kind of helps in the heeling process.”
The tourney was created by 2011 Marist grad R.J. Discher, a close friend of Coombs.
“Eddie was able to make anyone feel like a brother,” Discher told HudsonValley.ynn. “When he talked to anybody, he just had a voice that was just so touching and deep and you could recognize it from a mile away. And Eddie’s smile was just contagious, any time you were around him, you just needed to smile, you just made you feel like you were his best friend at that time.”
The Edward Taylor Coombs Foundation provides scholarships to student athletes in the Philadelphia area.
