Katie Samson boys’ lacrosse roundup: Sankey gets tying goal, winning goal in OT to lead Penn Charter past Hill School; D-town West edges Springfield-D

Joey Sankey scored the game-tying goal with two seconds left and then won it in overtime off a feed from Shane Carr as Penn Charter edged The Hill School, 12-11, Saturday in one of the most exciting games at the 11th annual Katie Samson Lacrosse Festival at Radnor.

Sankey finished with five goals and three assists for the Quakers (8-8). Carr added three goals to go with his assists and Ray Vandegrift had a goal and four assists while Jackson Tamasitis made nine saves.

Pat Dunn led The Hill with three goals and Duncan Saunders (5-6) was solid in the cage.

Downingtown West 10, Springfield-Delco 9

Eric Rankel (two goals) scored with 20 seconds to play as the Whippets capped a drmamatic rally from a 9-7 deficit late in the game to topple the Cougars.

Zach Logan scored three goals and Dylan Ikkala added two goals and an assist while Tyler McWilliams scored twice for Downingtown West.

Joe Venit had three goals and an assist and Vince Marra added two goals and assist for the Cougars.

St. Joseph’s Prep 13, Emmaus 8

Cory Scheuerle had four goals and an assist and Fenton Fitzpatrick added two goals and two assists while Blaine Fleming had two goals and one assist to lead the Hawks to the win.

Zack Schleicher led the Green Hornets with four goals and Dan Kinek added two goals and an assist.

Great Valley 17, Tatnall School DE 2

Greg Merrill had five goals and an assist and Eric Gartner contributed three goals and one assist to lead the Patriots to the easy win.

Tatnall got a pair of goals from Taylor Swarter and 26 saves from Ryan Montgomery.

Episcopal Academy 9, Radnor 4

Tyler Odell scored four goals and Connor Haab added three to pace EA past the Red Raiders.

Ben Junior scored two goals for Radnor.

Haverford High 9, Archbishop Wood 4

Mike Leyden had four goals and Trent Stetler added two goals and two assists to lead the Fords to the impressive victory. Pete Dursaneo added two goals.

For Wood, Steve Kemp scored twice and Shane Moyer scooped 100 groundballs

Shipley 13, Harriton 4

Mike Litner had four goals and Mattock Callahan added three as the Gators cruised.

The Shipley defense also excelled, led by Steve Gentry, Mike Gagnier, Will Todd, Luke Massengill, Gore Kamara, Jamie Piltch, Evan Romano and Eric Loreaux. Romano and Mac Gallagher were strong at the face-off X.

Salesianum School 8, Unionville 6

Dillon Walker ha three goals and an assist and Sean Giampietro added three
Goals to lead the Sallies to the victory.

Billy Donovan and Rich Kaiser each scored twice for the Indians while Chris Baker made 13 saves.

Brunswick (CT) 13, Downingtown East 3

Tyler Kroft, Aaron Murphy and Brandon O’Connell each scored once for the Cougars in the loss to the New England prep power.
