Downingtown East goalie Allie Murray and Episcopal Academy midfielder Taylor Trimble helped the US Under-19 Training Team sweep two games Saturday at the Champion Challenge, a US Lacrosse event, at the ESPN Wide World of Sports complex in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.
In its final time together before final cuts are made, the US downed Division I Jacksonville University, 12-10, and Division II Rollins College, 12-8. Murray had nine saves in the win over Rollins and Trimble scored once in the victory over Jacksonville.
This was the first time the US team had played together since the Stars and Stripes event in October and its first competition against college teams.
The event also served as a final evaluation process for US officials to pick the 18 players that will travel to Hannover, Germany to participate at the FIL U19 World Championships Aug. 3-13. There are currently 24 players on the team.
The players will be picked Sunday and the roster will be announced Monday
