Girls’ lacrosse: Downingtown East tops No. 1 Episcopal Academy, 18-15

McKenzie Rafferty scored six goals and three other players scored three as Downingtown East defeated Episcopal Academy, 18-15, today in a Philly girls’ lacrosse showdown at Downingtown West.

The Cougars, ranked No. 7 in the PA Media Rankings, improved to 4-1 while No. 1 EA fell to 2-1.

Downingtown East took a 10-6 halftime lead and opened up an 18-13 edge late in the game. Emily Solenberger had three goals and two assists while Haley Nelson and Ashley Poli each scored three times. Kelly Devlin had a goal and five assists.

Goalie Allie Murray made 12 saves to earn the win

Lynda Michals led EA with seven goals and two assists and Taylor Trimble had four goals while Blake McHugh scored twice and Ali Singley added a goal and three assists.
