Kristen Bandos scored 10 goals and engaged in a remarkable scoring battle with Baldwin School’s Sloan Warren to lead visiting Notre Dame Academy to a 20-19 victory over the Bears today in a girls’ lacrosse game between Inter-Ac League unbeatens.
Bandos also had two assists as the Fighting Irish improved to 4-0 overall and 2-0 in the Inter-Ac and dropped Baldwin to 2-1 overall and 1-1 in the Inter-Ac.
The Bears got a monumental effort from senior Warren, who collected nine goals, three assists, eight draw controls, seven groundballs, three forced turnovers and one interception.
Carlianne McCabe contributed six goals and two assists for Notre Dame while Delaney Tuite had two goals and three assists.
Baldwin School took a 10-5 lead in the first half, but Bandos helped her team tie it, 10-10, at halftime, with four of her goals in the 5-0 spurt.
Shortly into the second half, Baldwin’s Arden Simone (one goal, one assist, four forced turnovers, five groundballs, one interception was assigned to mark Bandos one-on-one and held her scoreless for 22 minutes.
Ali Thaler (four groundballs) and Jennie Wigrizer (four draw controls) scored four goals a piece for Baldwin. Goalie Val Cohen made 15 saves and Kristin Feinberg played strong defense.
