Girls’ high school, middle school tryouts today for All-American Lacrosse Classic

The All American National Lacrosse Classic Upper Atlantic Regional (Philadelphia region) tryouts for High School and Middle School girls will be held today at United Sports Training Center, 1426 Marshallton Rd, Thorndale Road, Downingtown.

The 2011 National Lacrosse Classic and National All Star Lacrosse Academy presented by Brine, Gatorade and, is divided into two segments:

* July 1-4: National All-Star Lacrosse Academy for middle school boys & girls presently in grades 6, 7 & 8.

* July 5-8: National Lacrosse Classic for high school boys & girls entering grades 10, 11 & 12 next fall.

About the Event:

The National Lacrosse Classic and National All Star Lacrosse Academy aims to celebrate the excitement, diversity and excellence that youth and high school lacrosse has to offer by bringing together the finest players and coaches from local, regional and national locations. Players will be given a unique lacrosse experience, exceptional competition and the ultimate challenge to be the best.

National All-Star Lacrosse Academy

Boys: 12 regional teams, colors- royal blue & white, 300 student athletes, 12-24 coaches
Girls: 6 regional teams, colors- red & white, 150 student athletes, 6-12 coaches

The National All Star Lacrosse Academy is a first-of-its-kind lacrosse event where a player can qualify for selection to a team by competing at regional tryouts scheduled throughout the year. The top 25 players are selected from each tryout to represent their region at the national event. Regional teams do not meet or practice together prior to or after the national event. The National All Star Lacrosse Academy is geared to help better prepare student athletes and families for a successful transition to high school by combining on-field position technique instruction and game competition conducted by NCAA lacrosse coaches, and off-field informational break-out sessions presented by leading experts in the fields of sports psychology, athletic training and academics. Regional teams will be coached by an NCAA lacrosse coach providing players with maximum exposure to college level coaching.

National Lacrosse Classic
Boys: 20 regional teams, colors-royal blue & white, 500 student athletes, 40-60 coaches
Girls: 12 regional teams, colors-red & white, 300 student athletes, 12-24 coaches

The National Lacrosse Classic has quickly established itself as one of the premier college recruiting showcase events. Participants must qualify for selection to represent their region at the national event by competing in regional qualifiers conducted by high school lacrosse coaches throughout the year. This event unites a diverse group of players and college lacrosse coaches. Last year, 500 players from 29 different States participated in the National Lacrosse Classic. Over 85 NCAA lacrosse coaches representing every division attended the games to scout and recruit players. This year, the National Lacrosse Classic will include high school girls on 12 regional teams. Teams are prohibited from meeting or practicing prior to the national event. The National Lacrosse Classic aims to better prepare the student athlete for the college admissions and athletic recruitment process by offering an extreme level of competition, top-notch coaching and informational break-out sessions presented by leading experts in the fields of sports psychology and academics.

The National Champion of the high school boys competition will qualify to play Internationally against Canada for the Brogden Cup later in the year.

The Maryland Soccerplex is conveniently located on the borders of Maryland, Washington DC, Virginia and Pennsylvania with easy access to major highways, airports, hotels, restaurants, entertainment and famous national sightseeing attractions.

The venue offers superior playing fields, ample parking and restroom comfort stations. The national event is scheduled to use 3 synthetic and 2 Bermuda grass surface fields that are situated side-by-side in one convenient area. The synthetic fields are illuminated for play during the evening.

National event presenting sponsors Brine, Gatorade and will be present both on and off field. Food and beverage caterer has been contracted to provide an array of foods, snacks, drinks and refreshments. A VIP Hospitality tent will be available for event sponsors, partners, NCAA lacrosse coaches, regional team coaches, staff and media.

Participants and families may elect to schedule visits to a number of local universities and colleges offering lacrosse programs such as, University of Maryland, Georgetown University, Loyola University, Towson University, United States Naval Academy, George Mason University, Mount Saint Mary’s, Hood College, Gettysburg College, Johns Hopkins University, University of Virginia, Stevenson University, Goucher College, and Essex Community College to name a few. Other academic institutions such as George Washington University and American University are nearby.
