Friday’s boys’ high school roundup: Haverford School moves to 10-0 by downing EA, 11-5

Hup Hupfeldt scored three goals and Carl Walrath added a goal and three assists as host Haverford School defeated Episcopal Academy, 11-5, today in Inter-Ac League boys’ lacrosse.

The Fords improved to 10-0 overall and 3-0 in the Inter-Ac. Haverford School, ranked No. 1 in all three national polls, plays Darien (Conn.) tomorrow at 11 a.m. in the 3rd annual “Checking for Cancer” Invitational. Darien (4-0) is ranked among the Top 4 teams in all three polls.

Sam Rohr, Joe McCallion and Will McNamara each had a goal and an assist for the Fords. Conor Kelly (seven saves) earned the win.

For EA (3-5, 0-3), Tyler Odell and Garrett Walling each scored twice.

Shipley School 13, Westtown School 0

Julius Mouser collected five goals and four assists and Andrew Wofford scored three goals while Mike Litner had two goals and an assist for the Gators in the Friends Schools League win.

Interboro 13, Marple Newtown 8

Brian VanWyk scored four goals and Kyle Rasley added three for the Bucs.

St. Joseph’s Prep 9, Cardinal O’Hara 1

Fenton Fitzpatrick scored three goals and Rob Watts scored twice to lead the Hawks in the Catholic League win.

Abington 10, Pennsbury 6

Brian Gallagher and Matt Figueroa each had three goals and an assist and Ryan Ambler had a goal and two assists while Travis O’Connor made 12 saves to pace the Ghosts to the key Suburban One National victory.

Anthony Greco led the Abington defense with eight groundballs.

Josh Caven scored twice for Pennsbury

Archbishop Ryan 10, Archbishop Wood 9

Tim Taylor had five goals and an assist to lead the Raiders to the Catholic League win.

Upper Dublin 9, Wissahickon 1

Willy Beury had four goals and an assist and Kyle Giordino scored three goals to pace the Cardinals to the Suburban One American win.

Plymouth Whitemarsh 9, Upper Merion 7

Nick Swift pumped in four goals and Colin Joka had two while Gryphin Kelly won 13 of 16 face-offs and Andrew Sabia made 11 saves for the Colonials in the Suburban One American victory.

Lorran DeCosta and Wes McDowell each scored three goals for the Vikings and Conor Crowe made 17 saves.

Neshaminy 14, Harry S Truman 2

Alex McKenzie scored six goals and Keenan Skeels had three goals and three assists to lead the Redskins to the Suburban One National victory.
