The Drexel women’s lacrosse team joined the Friends of Jaclyn Foundation and Be the Match Foundation to help raise awareness for patients with life-threatening diseases around the community.
The Dragons adopted Maggie Medvitz through the Friends of Jaclyn Foundation. She was diagnosed with brain cancer and passed after four months of intense treatment. To honor their adopted sister, the women’s team hosted a 4 v 4 tournament and shooting clinic that raised $2,500. (See previous feature story by Phillylacrosse.com.)
The Dragons will present the check to Maggie’s family at center court during half time at the men’s basketball on Monday, January 24 for the Maggie Medvitz Foundation. Drexel and Georgia State tip-off at 7 p.m. in the Daskalakis Athletic Center.
The Drexel women’s will also be sponsoring a bone marrow registry on Friday, February 4 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the DAC. The Dragons hope to not only adopt more donors, but to also raise awareness for those seeking transplants. There is no cost to attend.
