Defending state champion Conestoga will play Baltimore power Boys’ Latin in its second game of the year on March 29 at a neutral site, highlighting a busy schedule of out-of-state powers and Pennsylvania heavyweights for the Pioneers.

Conestoga, which won the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) crown after finishing second the previous year, opens at home against Catholic League power St. Joseph’s on Saturday, March 26 at 5 p.m. The game – originally set for 7 p.m.- will follow an intriguing matchup on the Conestoga field between District 1 2010 quarterfinalist Hatboro-Horsham and Texas power Coppell (17-0 last year. 2-0 so far this season).

Then on the following Tuesday, the Pioneers face Baltimore powerhouse Boys’ Latin at Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster at 5:30 p.m. The game is being played at the neutral site so neither team has to travel too far.

Boys’ Latin, the MIAA ‘A’ Conference Runner-up last year, is ranked No. 5 in the Under Armour/Inside Lacrosse Power Rankings released earlier this month. Conestoga is No. 13.

Conestoga also has out-of-state dates with Ohio power Worthington-Kilbourne (Friday, April 8, home, 3:45 p.m.) and Greenwich, Conn., (Saturday, April 16, Haverford School’s “Checking For Cancer” tourney, 11 a.m.). Worthington-Kilbourne is ranked No. 7 in the Midwest in the Under Armour/Inside Lacrosse Regional Rankings.

Conestoga has several other key non-league games against PA rivals. The Pioneers face Inter-Ac League power Episcopal Academy on Saturday, April 23, at the 2nd annual HEADstrong Rivalry Games at 11 a.m. They meet defending Inter-Ac co-champion Haverford School – the No. 1 team in the Under Armour/IL rankings – on Saturday, April 30, at 1:30 p.m. at the Katie Samson Festival at Radnor; and they meet seven-time defending Catholic League champion La Salle (No. 9 in USA/IL rankings) at La Salle on Saturday, May 7 at 2 p.m.

Conestoga defeated La Salle in the state finals last year and fell to the Explorers in the 2009 state finals.
