Boys’ youth lacrosse: Select Lacrosse 6th grade team wins Lehigh Laxfest championship

The Select Lacrosse 6th grade team won the Lehigh Laxfest 5th/6th B Division Championship last weekend.

Select went 5-0 overall, rallying past Black Bear Lacrosse, 3-2, in the championship game. Select was down, 2-0, in the title game, but scored three goals later in the first half and blanked its foe in the second half.

Attackmen Justin Connors and Justin Abbonizio scored to tie the game and Jake Keller got the game-winner from his midfeild position. In the second half, Select was able to control possessions and got standout defense from Zach Kleban, Brian McIntosh, Cameron Vogel, Tripp Gundlach and Colin Stevens. Joel Trucksess and Matt Kubit excelled at the face-off X and Conor Larkin was dominant at LSM.

Asher Mithoefer and Matt McLaren stood out in goal.

Select had defeated 2 Knights Lacrosse, Team 91 and the the Long Island Express in pool play and then toppled North Green and Gold (N.J.) in the semifinals.
