Boys’ lacrosse: Malvern Prep edges Penn Charter in Inter-Ac, 7-6, on last-minute goal by Farrell

Colin Farrell scored the game-winner with 46 seconds to play today to lift host Malvern Prep to a 7-6 victory over Penn Charter in an Inter-Ac League opener.

The Friars – ranked No. 5 in the PA Media Rankings – improved to 4-1 overall. PC fell to 4-3.
“I had a shorty on me after we broke the play and realizing he was also an attackman, I took him down the alley and noticed he was giving me the inside,” aid Farrell. “I went that way and took him to the goal.”

TJ Hanzsche led Malvern Prep with three goals and Farrell added a pair while Mike Dougherty added a goal and an assist. Ryan McDevitt made seven saves and Matt Barrett had three saves in the second half. Drew Kennedy also dominated at the face-off X, winning 13 of 15 draws and Wes Pancoast played standout defense.

For PC, Andy Grabowski had three goals and an assist and Jackson Tamasitis was a standout in the goal with 13 saves. Shane Carr added a goal and two assists.
