Carl Walrath had four goals and two assists to lead Haverford School to a 12-7 victory over Germantown Academy today in an Inter-Ac League opener.

The Fords, ranked No. 1 in the nation in two national polls, improved to 6-0 and dealt the Patriots (4-1) their first loss

Matt Walters and Gavin McBride each scored two goals for the Fords and Conor Kelly made 10 saves. Joe McCallion scored once and won 9 of 11 face-offs while Wil Gural won 5 of 8 face-offs.

“The team played really well as a unit today,” said Haverford School junior defenseman Warner Bailey. “We did a lot of things well – sliding, and communicating, playing good team defense.

“We broke down a bit in the second half but (cleaned) it up late in the game. We need to play a bit more consistently and continue to play good solid group defense.”

Beau Jones led GA with three goals and Billy Oppenheimer added two goals while Jacob Adni made 12 saves.
