Conor Kelly made 18 saves in goal while Hup Hupfeldt and Brendan McGrath each had three goals to lead a balanced attack today as visiting Haverford School defeated McDonogh (Md.), 12-10, to improve to 3-0.
The Fords, ranked No 1 in every national poll, finished a sweep of MIAA teams. They also have defeated St. Paul’s and Loyola Blakefield.
Haverford School trailed, 5-4, at halftime today, but used a 5-2 run in the third period to seize control. Hupfeldt had all three of his goals in the third frame and Kelly had five saves in each of the final two periods when McDonogh (3-1) refused to die.
The host Eagles had yielded only six goals in their first three games, handling Tennessee power McCallie (15-0), Texas power Highland Park (13-4) and North Carolina’s Durham Academy (15-4).
Haverford School also got two goals from Will McNamara and one each from Matt Walters, Carl Walrath, Gavin McBride and Zach Rego. Hupfeldt and Sam Rohr added two assists each while McGrath, Walters and Rego also had assists.
Joe McCallion was a force at the face-off X, winning 10 of 14 draws.
