Boys’ lacrosse: Downingtown West clinches 1st outright Ches-Mont title; EA wins first Inter-Ac game

Tyler McWilliams had three goals and two assists while Brad Shenberger, Teddy Verano and Dylan Ikkala added two goals each to lead Downingtown West to a 12-1 rout of Bayard Rustin Tuesday, clinching the Whippets’ first-ever outright Ches-Mont League boys’ lacrosse championship.

Downingtrown West (16-1) is 10-0 in the league with one game remaining Thursday against West Chester East. Last year the Whippets shared their first league crown with Downingtown East.

Jim Sharer, Jim Rennaud and Zach Logan also scored for Downingtown West while Eric Rankel dished off three assists.

Episcopal Academy 13, Germantown Academy 9

The Churchmen (6-9) won their first Inter-Ac League game of the year as Connor Haab had seven goals and two assists.

Jonathan Garino added two goals for EA while Shane Morrell and Tyler Odwell each had a goal and two assists. Sam Lawlor had four assists and Tyler Morrell made 11 saves.
