Boyertown junior midfielder Kaitlyn DeHaven has committed to play Division I lacrosse at the United States Naval Academy.

Kaitlyn DeHaven log:

Kaitlyn DeHaven

High School: Boyertown

Graduation Year: 2013

Position: Midfielder

College Choice: Navy

Club Affiliation: Phantastix

Major lacrosse honors: Member of 8-time PAC-10 champions

Academic honors: Honor Roll

What will you major in/study? Either Oceanography or Political Science

Why did you choose school?
“I piked Navy because I love the campus and because it’s going to be an amazing experience to go there and have all the opportunities I can never get anywhere else. Coach (Cindy) Timchal (Haverford High, West Chester University grad) is going to be so amazing to play for. She has been a legend everywhere; it’s an honor to play for her.”

What is your HS team’s outlook for next year? “I definitely think we’re going to have another really good season. I can see us winning the PAC-10 again and going as far or further than last year (qualified for states). We have a lot of girls back and a lot of talented girls.”

Other comments:
“I want to thanks my Phantastix coaches; they have helped so much with the process and been so supportive. I want to thank my parents for driving me all over the place this summer looking for colleges; and Mrs. (Boyertown coach Pam) Wernersbach, who has been very supportive and a great coach; as well as the coaches at Navy.”

Other info: DeHaven is the seventh member of the Phantastix to commit to Navy in the past few years. Others include Navy junior twins Kathy and Beth Young (Villa Maria Academy), Navy sophomore Aimee Gennaro (Archbishop Carroll), Navy incoming freshman Lindsay Rheiner (Council Rock North), Council Rock North senior Molly Doyle and Conestoga junior Mackenzie Orr. Phantastix coach JoAnn Yusko played college lacrosse and was a roommate with Timchal at West Chester.
