From Press Releases
The 2011-2012 Ursinus Men’s Lacrosse Team is excited to announce that it has committed to supporting a non-profit organization called We Are One 365. The mission of the organization is to raise awareness for the daily sacrifice made by our military.
“The men of Ursinus Lacrosse have been fortunate over the last couple years to work with team building experts from The Program Athletics, many of whom are military veterans,” said senior captain Jeff Ocampo. “These men have had an immeasurable impact on our program. We are grateful for their service and the sacrifice of all the men and women of our armed forces.
“We Are One 365 is a unique initiative that allows us, as athletes, to promote awareness and provide financial support for our military and their families. We are excited to support this organization and want to thank all service members for the protection of our freedom,” Ocampo added.
One of the greatest strengths in both the program and the Ursinus community is the unity and collective ability of our coaches, players, families, and alumni. This year Ursinus players will be wearing the WeAreOne 365 t-shirts once per week during a workout to raise awareness and to recognize the daily sacrifice made by the men and women of our military.
In addition, the proceeds from the t-shirt purchases will go towards a military family in the area. The hope is to not only support the cause, but to develop a lasting relationship between this military family and the Ursinus program. The military serves us every day, and the team’s goal is to help this organization both grow and support the military 365 days a year.
“I would like to personally thank the Ursinus Men’s Lacrosse team for partnering with our organization and making the pledge to wear our We Are One 365 shirts one day a week during their workouts,” said Founder/CEO Matthew Wood. “We couldn’t have been more excited to see several Ursinus Men’s Lacrosse alumni at our Launch Event in NYC this past weekend.
“Their commitment to attend the event demonstrates the character of Ursinus Men’s Lacrosse past and present players. We hope that through our work together we will raise awareness of the daily sacrifice made by our military and their families in the Ursinus and Collegeville communities as well as throughout the Centennial Conference,” Wood explained.
Our program will have a team page at which the community can follow the service work with the organization: http://weareone365.org/make-the-pledge/ursinus-lacrosse/
This team page will be updated throughout the year with pictures and information about the work with W.A.O. 365
Ursinus encourages everyone in the Ursinus Community to visit WeAreOne365.org to learn more about the mission. If interested, you can “make the pledge”, donate to the organization, and purchase their gear online.
