From US Lacrosse

US Lacrosse has announced a position opening for the head coach of the 2014 U.S. men’s national senior team.

This highly visible position has the primary responsibility to oversee the performance of Team USA in its preparation for and competition in the 2014 Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) World Championships, hosted by US Lacrosse and held in Denver, Colo., July 10-19, 2014.

The head coach plays a vital role in the planning and execution of the selection of assistant coaches, team staff positions and players. In addition, the head coach must actively participate in team budgeting processes and fundraising efforts. The head coach’s responsibilities extend from selection in the fall of 2011 through the 2015 US Lacrosse National Convention.

Mike Pressler served as the head coach for the 2010 U.S. men’s senior team, leading the team to the gold medal at the 2010 FIL World Championships in England with a 12-10 victory over Canada in the championship game. Team USA has now won seven of the last eight world titles. Pressler, the head coach at Bryant University, was joined on the 2010 coaching staff by Joe Alberici (Army head coach), Tony Resch (La Salle College High assistant coach, Long Island Lizards assistant coach), Rick Sowell (Navy head coach) and Paul Cantabene (Stevenson head coach).

The deadline for applications is Thursday, Nov. 3, 2011. For more information or to apply, please visit: http://www.uslacrosse.org/TopNav/NationalTeams/MensSeniorTeam/2014HeadCoach.aspx.

Marriott and Nationwide are the official sponsors of the National Teams Program. Warrior is the official equipment and apparel sponsor of the U.S. men’s national teams.
