Great Valley rising senior defender Jackie Moccia has made a verbal commitment to play Division I lacrosse at the University of Oregon.

Jackie Moccia log:

High School: Great Valley

Position: Defender

Club Affiliation: Mongoose Lacrosse

Lacrosse Honors: Moccia was part of a Great Valley team that went 21-4 and advanced to the District 1 and state semifinals. She participated in the Lacrosse Classic Summer in 2011, and was named to the Philly Showcase All Star Team in 2010.

Academic honors: High Honors every semester of high school, and volunteers at Hope Spring Equestrian Therapy, which helps children and adults with special needs.

Why did you choose Oregon?: “I chose University of Oregon because I want to be part of a program that is building for the future. I also love the coaching staff. They have a great attitude and philosophy for the team. All of my brothers (four of them) have gone up to New England for college. I always said I wanted to be different and go across the country but no one thought I would actually do it. I am so excited and couldn’t be happier about becoming a Duck.”

Expectations for 2012 HS season: “Our team goal for this upcoming season is state champs. We had a bullseye hanging in our locker room with ‘State Champs’ in the middle last year and we will have it there again this year.”
