As many as 19 college teams will compete Oct. 8-9 in the 5th annual Nick Colleluori Classic at Ridley High, an event that benefits the HEADstrong Foundation and its fight against blood cancer.
Nine Division I teams will compete on Saturday, Oct. 8. They include St. Joseph’s and Lehigh from the Philly region as well as Hofstra, Cornell, Colgate, Marist, Michigan, Mount St. Mary’s, and Towson.
So far nine Division II and III teams have committed for the second day of action on Oct. 9. Division II Chestnut Hill College will be joined by Division III teams Neumann, Widener, Ursinus and Albright as well as Marywood, Scranton, St. Mary’s and Stockton. Another Division III team may be added this week.
Nick Colleluori was a member of the Hofstra Lacrosse team from 2004 to 2006 and graduated from Ridley High School (PA) in 2004. Nick may have lost his battle with blood cancer on November 28, 2006 but his vision has just begun.
The HEADstrong Foundation’s mission is to generate funds for cancer research, distribute grants and assistance to survivors of blood cancer, provide financial assistance to families that are experiencing the hardships of having a sick family member, and provide scholarships and grants for students with ambitions of entering the medical field.
More information on the tourney will be released in the coming weeks.
