Clinton helped Boyertown (19-7) win its eighth straight Pioneer Athletic Conference title and advance to the state tournament in 2011.

Clinton, who plays club lacrosse with Phantastix, is in the National Society for High School Scholars, is on High Honor Roll and I a member of the Future Business Leaders of America.

Clinton wants to be a Veterinary Technician, and is intending to major in Biology.

“I first started to look at Gettysburg because they had the major I’m interested in, they have a great lacrosse team, and it was not too far away from home,” said Clinton. “I like the challenge of being expected to perform to my best ability in the classroom as well as on the lacrosse field.

“The lacrosse program has been very successful, which was something I was interested in: playing for a successful program where I could fit in and contribute.”

Gettysburg won its first ever NCAA championship in 2011. Head coach Carole Cantele is a graduate of Nether Providence (now Strath Haven). Cantele received IWLCA Coach of the Year this year, and has a career record of 267-88.

“I really liked her personality and approach to lacrosse as soon as I met her,” Clinton said. “I also got the chance to work with [assistant] coach [Barb] Jordan, the goalie/defensive coach, at camp this summer. I’m so excited that I will be joining a team that just won the Division III National Title.”

Clinton is the third Philly girl from the class of 2012 to commit to Gettysburg. She joins defender Grace O’Connor (Merion Mercy) and midfielder Emily McAleer (Conestoga). McAleer plays on the Phantastix with Clinton, who is excited to attend Gettysburg with a familiar face.

Clinton is the second from Boyertown to commit to play college lacrosse. Her teammate, midfielder Devyn Heidelbaugh, recently committed to Delaware.

Following it regular season, Boyertown found more success in postseason play, as it advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2011 District 1 tournament. The Bears fell to Archbishop Carroll in the first round of states.

“I think at the beginning of the season people underestimated us because we lost so many seniors the year before and we used that as a motivator,” said Clinton. “We went further than anyone thought we could.

“Next spring season I want to keep our PAC-10 streak going and go further than we ever have before at states. We will have a great group of girls who are all motivated to work hard, and keep the winning success of Boyertown Lacrosse going.”
