Recent Interboro graduate Danielle Owen (goalie) has committed to play Division III lacrosse at Cabrini College.
Owen was a three-year starter for the Bucs and played club lacrosse for Blitz. She was a Gait Fab 40 pick last fall at the Philly Showcase.
Owen will major in English literature at Cabrini, which went 6-2 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference under coach Jackie Neary (Ridley/Temple).
“Jackie is an awesome person and watched me play at the Showcase,” said Owen. “She has a wonderful way of coaching. To her, it’s not a team, it’s a family, and that’s exactly what I was looking for.”
Owen missed much of her senior year due to complications in her shoulder from a torn labrum suffered her sophomore year. She is having surgery today to repair part of her collarbone, which has hindered her recovery. She expects to be fully recovered in time for Fall Ball at Cabrini.
This year Owen helped coach the Interboro middle school team and took great joy in helping young goaltenders improve their skills and confidence as new players.
Owen said gaining exposure at the Philly Showcase served as a huge recruiting boost.
“The Showcase definitely helped me out the most,” she said. “I got to play in front of coaches that had never seen me before and I got to play with a lot of girls I had never played with.”
