Hannah Plappert and Lindsay Rheiner each scored three goals as visiting Council Rock North rallied from a 5-3 halftime deficit and defeated Abington, 8-6, today to clinch the Suburban One National Conference lacrosse championship.

The Indians improved to 7-0 in the league and 11-2 overall with only one game remaining in the conference schedule,. Abington – which tied CR North for the crown last year – is now 5-2 in the conference and 9-6 overall.

Plappert had her three goals in the first half and Rheiner had her hat trick in the second half. Kara Magley and Becky Ely also scored for Council Rock North.

“I’ve always been told that obstacles aren’t placed in your path to stop you from doing something – they’re placed in your path to see how hard you want to get past them,” said Indians’ co-coach Pat Toner. “I said, ‘Consider this a wall. You can either climb over it or stay on this side of it.’ They climbed over it. It wasn’t easy, it was a frustrating game, but I think we needed it.”

Hanna Sjoholm and Molly Seefried each scored twice for the Ghosts.
