Jenna Mertz scored four goals, including the game-winner 47 seconds into overtime, to lift host Villa Maria Academy to a thrilling 11-10 victory Wednesday over Unionville in non-league girls’ lacrosse.

Elise Bendinelli and Carolyn Griesser added two goals apiece, and Erin Kelly had a goal and four assists for the Hurricanes (7-2).

Annabeth Donovan scored five goals for Unionville.

Harriton 22, Cape Fear, NC

Carli Sukonik led a balanced Rams’ attack in North Carolina with five goals and one assist and Ally McLaughlin contributed two goals, three assists, eight draw controls and six groundballs.

Great Valley 21, Menlo, Calif. 11

Ali Karwoski had seven goals and one assist as the Patriots cruised to the nonleague win at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Kissimmee, Fla.

Brooke Gamble scored four goals and Caroline Dodds added three goals and three assists for the Pats.


Haverford High 12, Cape Henry (Va.) Collegiate 7

Katrina Geiger had four goals and one assist, Jill Root added two goals and three assists, and Lauren Falasco contributed two goals and two assists to pace the Fords (5-4) in Virgina.

Springfield-Delco 15, Bishop Sullivan (Va.) 2

Maddy Lynch had six goals and Nathalie Basunga added three goals while Courtney Kennedy contributed two goals and three assists for the Cougars in their win over the Virginia foe.

Archbishop Carroll 18, Bishop McDevitt 0

Bernadette Gennaro, Brooke Olsen, Jess Lafferty and Kerry Newby led the offense for the Patriots, who improved to 9-1 with the Catholic League shutout.

Merion Mercy 17, Villa Joseph Marie 9

Monica O’Hara scored four goals and Emily Corcoran piled up three goals and six assists for the Bears in the Catholic Academies win.

Springfield Montco 19, Delco Christian 5

Libby Field scored four goals and Anna Studenmund, Juli Cardamone and Rosalie Good each had three goals and an assist for the Spartans in the Bicentennial League win.

Emily Castle led Delco Christian with three goals and Sarah Castle added a pair.

Friends’ Central 10, Academy of the New Church 8

Ashley Tedesco had thrtee goals, three assists and three draw controls to lead the Phoenix to the non-league win.

Mount St. Joseph 19, Cardinal O’Hara 7

Burke Brabson had five goals and three assists and Maddie Haas scored four goals to lead the Mount to the non-league win.

Archbishop Wood 21, Bonner-Prendergast 3

Nichole Hayes scored five goals and Megan Oczkowski added four to lead the Vikiongs to the Catholic League win.

Caitlin McCartney and Alyssa Anbdress each had three goals and an assist for Wood.

Kathy Flanagan scored three goals for Bonner-Prendergast.

Garnet Valley 19, Sun Valley 0

AnneElise Morello had four goals and eight assists and Halley Barnes collected four goals and three assists to lead the Jaguars to the shutout victory.

Henderson 11, Avon Grove 9

Katie O’Donnell scored five goals to lead the Warriors to the Ches-Mont League win.
