Saturday’s girls’ high school roundup: Strath Haven, Merion Mercy, Abington, Methacton, Souderton gain wins

Jenna Frost had four goals and an assist while Sarah Carzo and Kirsten Wilhelmsen each contributed three goals and two assists as host Strath Haven defeated Unionville, 20-12, Saturday in non-league girls’ lacrosse.

Sara Labrum and Laura Rowan each added three goals and an assist and Olivia Kerrigan: had 14 saves for the Panthers (7-3).

Unionville got four goals each from Annabeth Donovan (one assist), Jill Murray and Kris Abens.


Merion Mercy 14, Sacred Heart 8

Emily Corcoran had six goals and an assist and Bonnie McShane added three goals and two assists for the Bears in the Catholic Academies victory.

Stephanie Finley had four goals and one assist for Sacred Heart.


Abington 15, Cheltenham 1

Hannah Sjoholm had five goals and one assist and Meredith Cox scored four goals to pace the Ghosts to the non-league win over their neighborhood rivals.

Methacton 15, Avon Grove 14, OT

Megan Nearing (two assists) scored four goals, including the game-winner, to lift the Warriors to the non-league win. Emily Kellet had five goals and four assists, including the dish on the game-winning goal.

Souderton 10, Downingtown West 8

Kirsten Russell scored four goals while Danielle Notvest and Liz Mower added three goals apiece for the Indians in the non-league win.

Eva Winiarski led the Whippets with three goals.
