Friday’s girls’ roundup: EA downs Penn Charter in Inter-Ac; Friends’ Central, Shipley battle for 9-9 tie

Blake McHugh scored five goals and Taylor Trimble added four goals and an assist to lead host Episcopal Academy to a 12-5 victory over Penn Charter Friday in Inter-Ac League girls’ lacrosse.

EA, ranked No. 5 in the PA Media Rankings, improved to 4-1 overall and 2-0 in the Inter-Ac.

Katherine Higgins led PC (4-3, 1-3) with two goals.

Friends’ Central 9, Shipley School 9

Sophie Katz sent it into overtime and tallied both Shipley goals in overtime as the teams settled for a tie in the Friends Schools League battle of two league powers.

Ashley Tedesco had five goals and two assists and Becca Dahle added two goals and three assists for the Phoenix.

Nazareth 17, Liberty 3

Rachel Repash had seven goals and an assist for Nazareth (6-2, 5-1) in the Lehigh Valley Conference rout.

Annie Burtner tallied all three liberty goals.

Downingtown East 17, Bishop Shanahan 7

Nicole Barretta scored five goals while Ashley Poli had four goals and one assist for the Cougars in the Ches-Mont win.

Hannah Goforth netted four goals to lead the Eagles.

Jenkintown 22, Delco Christian 14

Haley Smith collected seven goals and two assists to lead the Drakes to the Bicentennial Athletic League win.

Sarah Castle had seven goals and three assists and Emily Castle added five goals for Delco Christian.
