Thursday’s girls’ Ches-Mont League girls’ roundup: Great Valley, Unionville, D’town East, D’town West win

Ali Karwoski poured in seven goals as host Great Valley nipped Bishop Shanahan, 13-12, today in a Ches-Mont League girls’ lacrosse game.

The Patriots improved to 8-1 overall and 4-0 in the league. Shanahan is 2-0 overall and 0-1 in the league after missing several games due to rain postponements.

Sara McBride added two goals and an assist for the Pats while Rachel Kalick scored twice.

Hannah Goforth matched Karwoski with seven goals and an assist while Colleen Holmes had three goals and four assists.

Unionville 12, Bayard Rustin 11

Annabeth Donovan pumped in five goals and scored the game-winner with 1:25 to play to lift the Indians to the thrilling victory.

Unionville trailed, 11-8, and rallied with the final four goals of the game. Hannah Haskell got the game-tying goal with 3:37 to play. Jill Murray had two goals and an assist and Rachel Hughes scored twice while Nikki Bonaduce made 11 saves.

Mikayla Doane led Rustin with four goals and Emily Hubley scored three.

Downingtown West 18, Sun Valley 4

Jillian Sanders collected seven goals and three assists and Paige Donnell added three goals as the Whippets coasted to the victory.

Jordan Hopkins had all four goals for the Vanguards.

Downingtown East 17, Kennett 1

Kelly Devlin scored four goals and McKenzie Rafferty, Haley Nelson and Nicole Barretta each had three goals for the Cougars in their easy win.
