Wednesday’s boys’ high school roundup: Wood, Ryan, La Salle, SJP win in Catholic League

Brian Butler collected three goals and two assists while Steve Kent and Chris Rahill added three goals and an assist each as vsiting Archbishop Wood downed Conwell-Egan today to open its Catholic League season.

Wood (3-3, 1-0) also got two goals and two assists from Kevin Maxwell.

Archbishop Ryan 9, Father Judge 1

Kevin Kolb made nine saves, Kevin Nelms had three goals and two assists and Tim Taylor added two goals and two assists to help Ryan earn the Catholic League win.


St. Joseph’s Prep 15, Lansdale Catholic 2

Jeff Heath had three goals and two assists and Jake O’Brien scored three goals to help the Prep claim the Catholic League win.

La Salle 14, Archbishop Carroll

The Explorers (2-3) improved to 2-0 in the Catholic League.
Penncrest 16, Marple Newtown 2

Andrew Caldwell collected three goals and four assists and Matt Klodarska had three goals and three assist to help the Lions tame the Tigers in the Central League. Dan Belk added three goals.

Boyertown 18, Phoenixville 5

Tyler Fuhrman exploded for eight goals and two assists and Kevin Ostromecki won 16 of 24 face-offs as the Bears coasted to the PAC-10 win.

Hill School 14, Academy of New Church 4

The Blues (2-3) jumped to a 9-0 halftime lead as Ted Wolter and Peter Oberrender led the midfield and Nate Smith-Ide (6 goals, 2 assists) and Gregor Davidheiser (3 goals, 3 assists) led the attack.

Duncan Saunders was strong in goal and Sam “The Bull” Labranche dominated at the face-off X along with Jimmy Nawn.
