A co-captain last season, Malizia earned Pioneer Athletic Conference Second Team honors for her junior season. She plays club lacrosse for Ultimate Goal.

While at Bloomsburg, Grace intends on studying Spanish Education. A Distinguished Honors student, Grace has donated her time to the Perkiomen Valley Pioneers – modeled after the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program.

Also, Malizia volunteers her time to coach lacrosse with St. Eleanor’s CYO while also being a certified youth lacrosse referee.

Malizia also considered Millersville, Lock Haven, and Elizabethtown.

“I chose Bloomsburg because it had everything I was looking for in a school – the perfect balance between academics and lacrosse, a beautiful campus, and just the right distance from home,” said Malizia.

She was impressed with Bloomsburg head coach Leah Quigley Carr, a Methacton alum.

“The way Coach Carr runs her team really appealed to me,” Malizia said. “She gets the girls involved with activities on campus, and they seem to have fun while being a successful team.”

Malizia will join a strong group of Philly products committed to coach Carr and the Huskies. Defender Carly Ball (North Penn), midfielder Allie Campbell (Owen J. Roberts), defender Amanda Jaynes (Pennridge) and attack Morgan Sherriff (Coatesville) also have committed to Bloomsburg.

Malizia is excited about the start of the 2011 high school season.

“I am very optimistic about our high school season; our coaches are great and have a lot of fresh ideas,” she said. “Along with a great group of girls who have been working hard in the off season, we have a bunch of strong underclassmen.”
